Dolphin Tales

Dolphin Tales is a literary magazine featuring work by the students, faculty, and staff of Brunswick Community College.  It is produced annually by The Learning Resources Center, which is located on the second floor of building A. Dolphin Tales accepts submissions of original literary works as well as photography and artwork that you have created during your time at BCC.

To get involved with the literary magazine or to submit your work for consideration in the next issue, please email stultzk@brunswickcc.edu and put Dolphin Tales in the subject heading. Submission of work does not guarantee placement in the literary magazine.

We accept:

• Poems – 300 words or less
• Micro Fiction – 300 words or less
• Flash Fiction – 301 to 1,000 words
• Short Story – 1,001 to 7,000 words
• Essays – 3,000 to 5,000 words
• Photography / Artwork – Images need to be high resolution pdf, pn,g or tiff files and at least 300 dpi.

Submission Guidelines: 
1. Submit up to three items.

2. Previously published work accepted. Include the name of the publication where it first appeared and confirm that no copyright exists to limit dissemination of the poem.

3. Prepare your items in a single Word document using the file name “[last name][first name][type]”. For example: doejohnflashfiction

4. At the bottom of your Word document, please include all of the following information or your submission will be disqualified:

• your name,
• phone number,
• email address, and
• a short bio written in third person (30 word maximum). For example: John Doe is a student at Brunswick Community College. He is working on his Associates in Arts and hopes to transfer to UNCW next year.

5. Prepare your submission by attaching your Word document — do not put items or the additional information in the body of the email.

6. Email your submissions to stultzk@brunswickcc.edu. List Dolphin Tales in the subject line. 

7. No hand-written items accepted. 

8. We will confirm receipt by email.

9. Deadline for submissions: 11:59 p.m. on February 27, 2026. Items arriving after that time will not be considered for this year's publication.
