Service Alert
The Brunswick Community College Library is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment that supports learning, research, collaboration, and discovery. To ensure that all users benefit from equitable access to our spaces, services, and resources, we ask that everyone follow this Code of Conduct.
All library users are expected to:
Treat others—patrons and staff alike—with courtesy and respect.
Use quiet voices in designated quiet zones and maintain appropriate noise levels elsewhere.
Follow all posted policies regarding space reservations, computer use, printing, and equipment.
Keep cell phones on silent or vibrate; take phone calls in designated areas or outside the building.
Leave furniture and equipment where you find them unless given permission by library staff.
Observe all college policies, including the Student Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use Policy.
To preserve the integrity of our shared environment, users must:
Keep all areas clean and free of litter. Dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately.
Use food and drinks responsibly. Only drinks in closed containers are allowed. Food may be restricted in certain areas.
Refrain from defacing, damaging, or misusing library furniture, equipment, or materials.
Avoid leaving personal belongings unattended. The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Computers, internet access, and study spaces must be used for legal, academic, or educational purposes.
Users must not engage in disruptive, harassing, or threatening behavior, including viewing offensive or inappropriate content on screens.
Access to certain resources (study rooms, collaboration spaces, equipment) may require BCC affiliation or advance reservation.
Follow all directions from library and campus staff in the event of emergencies, drills, or safety concerns.
Report any suspicious behavior, unsafe conditions, or facility issues to library staff immediately.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times unless they are BCC students.
Library staff are authorized to:
Enforce this Code of Conduct and all related policies.
Ask users to leave the library for policy violations or disruptive behavior.
Contact campus security when necessary for safety or policy enforcement.
Let’s work together to maintain a learning environment built on mutual respect, responsibility, and shared purpose.
If you have any questions about this Code of Conduct or need assistance, please speak with a member of the library staff.
