Library Study Spaces Policy

Overview

The BCC Library offers a variety of reservable study spaces to support academic focus and collaboration:

  • Study Rooms (3 total) – Seat 1–2 people; each includes a computer with DVD player (not networked for printing).

  • Collaboration Spaces (3 total) – Seat 4, 6, and 4 respectively; all include whiteboards. The 6-person space also features a wall-mounted wireless monitor for screen sharing.

  • Conference Room (1 total) – Seats up to 8; includes a desktop computer, whiteboard, and projector (requires checkout laptop). Not networked for printing.

Purpose

Library study spaces are intended for use by BCC students, faculty, and staff for individual or group study, meetings, and collaborative work.

  • Study Rooms: quiet study or small meetings

  • Collaboration Spaces: group projects and active discussion

  • Conference Room: larger meetings and group study

Users must be present and actively using the space during their reservation.

Reservations

  • BCC and BCSWAN users may reserve spaces online via the [Library Reservation System].

  • All others must reserve in person or by calling the Circulation Desk at (910) 755-7331.

  • Reservations are made in 30-minute increments, up to one month in advance.

  • Reserved users have priority. Walk-ins may be asked to vacate by reservation holders.

  • A confirmation email will be sent upon successful reservation. If you do not receive one, the reservation is incomplete.

Check-In & Grace Period

Check in within 30 minutes of your reservation start time by:

  • Scanning the QR code posted at the room,

  • Clicking the link in your confirmation email, or

  • Speaking with library staff at the Circulation Desk.

Reservations not checked in within 30 minutes will be forfeited.

Cancellations

Use the cancellation link in your confirmation email. If not received, check your junk/spam folder.

Conduct Guidelines

  • Maintain appropriate noise levels for the space.

  • Use equipment respectfully. Erase whiteboards and log out of monitors/projectors when finished.

  • Drinks in closed containers are allowed; no food.

  • Do not leave personal items unattended.

  • Leave spaces clean and ready for the next group.

  • Be courteous and cooperative when using shared spaces.

Library Rights

Library staff reserve the right to:

  1. Enter any study space at any time.

  2. Reassign or deny reservations for noncompliance with policy.
