Service Alert
Physical Materials (Books, Audiovisual Items, etc.)
Request Process:
Physical interlibrary loan (ILL) materials may be requested through the NCCC Evergreen system by placing holds on the desired items.
Eligibility:
Not all items are eligible for interlibrary loan. Typically, newly published books, textbooks, and audiovisual materials (such as DVDs, CDs, and streaming media) are excluded from ILL requests.
Delivery Time:
Physical ILL materials generally arrive within 3 to 5 business days after the request is placed. However, delivery times may vary and occasionally take longer depending on the lending library’s processing time and shipping method.
Loan Period and Returns:
Borrowed physical items must be returned to the BCC Library by the due date specified at the time of loan. Due dates vary according to lending library policies and may not coincide with BCC’s standard loan periods.
Renewals:
Renewals for physical interlibrary loan materials are not guaranteed. Users must contact the BCC Library before the due date to inquire about possible renewals, which are subject to approval by the lending library.
Unavailable Materials:
If requested items are not available through the NCCC Evergreen network, users are encouraged to consult local library collections. WorldCat.org is a recommended resource to help locate materials in nearby libraries or alternative sources.
Electronic Materials (Articles, Book Chapters, etc.)
Request Process:
Electronic interlibrary loan materials are requested using the BCC Library’s dedicated ILL request form.
Eligibility:
While many electronic materials such as journal articles and book chapters can be requested, not all requests will be fulfilled due to copyright restrictions, licensing agreements, or availability.
Delivery Time:
Electronic ILL materials are typically delivered within 1 to 2 business days, though some requests may require additional processing time.
Returns:
Electronic materials do not require physical return and are typically provided as downloadable files or links accessible for a limited period as stipulated by copyright agreements.
Unavailable Materials:
For electronic materials not accessible through NCCC Evergreen member libraries, users are advised to explore local library resources or other databases. Librarians are available to assist in locating alternative sources when possible.
