We are super excited about Open House this year. Back by popular demand: DIY valentines! Join us from 12 to 1pm on February 7 (Tuesday) and February 8 (Wednesday) to get a jump on love notes for all the special people in your life! We will have embossers, scissors, hole punches, a sticker machine -- your crafting needs are sorted! Plus, while supplies last, *candy kabobs*! Count some carbs with us the old-fashioned way: one marshmallow, two marshmallow, three marshmallow . . . |
A new database is always cause for celebration -- these are expensive products that open up whole new areas of research to our campus users. So we are very pleased to bring you JoVE, which -- after extensive testing and trialing last semester -- the science faculty identified as a worthy addition to our suite of 170+ curated databases. JoVE brings cutting-edge, *peer-reviewed* science research in an engaging and easily digestible format (i.e., videos). So the next time you are working on a research assignment for a science or nursing class, see what JoVE has to offer you.
Ordering is underway in the library -- so, very soon, you will start to see new books and DVDs available for checkout on the New Books cart. There's manga, YA, bestsellers -- all based on user recommendations, which we have been gathering the last few months. What's more, once the physical orders are complete, we'll turn our attention to Dogwood Digital Library purchasing. So get those last-minute requests in today!
Bad news for Economist readers: if you have been accessing it via Dogwood Digital Library, OverDrive -- the company that supports our DDL platform -- is discontinuing its relationship with The Economist, effective February 1, 2023, due to impractical usage restrictions the magazine wanted to implement. Luckily, we still have access to Economist content (1988-present) via multiple databases, including ProQuest Central, it's just not as reader-friendly as the DDL magazine format. If you need help with The Economist after February 1, please don't hesitate to reach out to the library!
Calling all creatives! TLC is actively seeking submissions for the 2023 issue of Dolphin Tales. Gather up your essays, poems, short stories, digital art (of photographs, paintings, sculptures, quilts, knitting, etc.) and submit to TLC@brunswickcc.edu. BCC's got talent and we can't wait to brag about it!
Speaking of which, we see (and love!) your flash artworks in the library -- please keep them coming! We appreciate a good message, too -- drink water, take breaks, for sure! Dehydration really grinds our gears! 😀
Thanks for reading! Until next time, drink water, take breaks, and visit the library!
