🎄 Merry & Bright 🕎✨🎁

Welcome to our final post of 2022. Read on to get caught up on year-end library news!

"Have you played Atari today?"

During these final days of December, join us on a trip down memory lane. We have set up an Atari joystick in the library. Head to the first collaboration station, turn on the monitor, flip the switch on the joystick -- then engage with some old-school titles like Centipede. Playing ironically is encouraged! :)

Liza can troubleshoot, so don't hesitate to ask -- and thanks to Jay Sherwood for helping with the setup (and Ross Sempek from the College of Southern Idaho for the idea in the first place)!

Library Account PINs

A big change is coming to library accounts in late December/early January, so we wanted to give campus a quick heads-up. We will be retroactively adding a generic PIN to existing library accounts to protect user privacy; new library accounts will also be generated using this generic PIN. This will really only impact users who are accustomed to placing holds (to request books from other campuses) on their own via the library catalog. Once the PIN is activated (username will still be your 14-digit BCC ID card number), you will enter the generic PIN as your account password. But you will, of course, want to change your PIN as soon as possible to something secure and unique.

More details will be provided once the change is implemented by our catalog administrator. In the meantime, if you need to place a hold and the catalog isn't allowing you to access your account, please contact library staff for more assistance (910-755-7331 OR bcclrc@brunswickcc.edu).

Cereal Killers

Many thanks to all who participated in our cereal bar contest -- your suggestions and votes were all appreciated! We are happy to announce the winning names, in no particular order:

Hall and Oats (Honey Bunches of Oats): Samuel C.

Taste the Rainbow Bars (Froot Loops): Liza Palmer

Lip Smackin' Goodies (Honey Smacks): Carmen Ellis

Cappy Crunch Bars (Cap'n Crunch): Kathy Garrett

Yabba Dabba Duper Bars (Cocoa Pebbles/Rice Krispies): Liza Palmer

Reindeer Poop (Cocoa Puffs): Randi B.

Chunky Charms (Lucky Charms): Wallace S.

All That and a Bag of Krispies Bars (Rice Krispies): Liza Palmer

Cinna Crispies (Cinnamon Toast Crunch): Kris Stultz

All our chefs as well as our winners listed above will receive a Fruity Pebbles Funko plushie! They may not arrive until after the winter break, so please be on the lookout for an email from the library alerting you to when you can pick your plushie up. But you are all winners in our book, campus -- and we still have plenty of color Cereal Killer prints to offer as consolation prizes, so stop by the library and pick one up today!

New Dry-Erase Boards!

We have two new spiffy dry-erase boards up in the study carrels!  They should make these two units much more cozy and functional.  Our thanks to Tim Brown and Brian Keller for their A++ installation!

Exam Jam Thanks

Exam Jam was a hit this year -- our thanks to campus for taking the time to visit with the library (and hug the therapy dog!). Special thanks, also, to our partners for this fall's event: Lisa Schultz, BCC's super-talented Culinary students (Carla, Shay, Dalton, Sincere, D'Shay, and Thia), and Brooke Goff. We loved the Wall of Wellness and Post-it art contributions, by the way!

Save the Date

Speaking of events, we are already looking forward to Open House and DIY valentines in the spring! Join us February 7 and 8, 12-1pm, for some munchies, while supplies last! And we will have fun art gadgets on hand to help make your Valentine's Day cards artmazing!

Happy Holidays!

In the meantime, here is wishing all of you a very merry holiday season, filled with fun, sleep, sugar, and family/friends! We'll see you on the other side of 2022!
