***Updated on 5/24/21***

The spring semester is nearly over -- we're getting ready to welcome summer in BCC Library with some good news!

Summer Changes

  • Library hours are now:
    • M-Th, 7:30am-11:30am AND 12:30-5:30pm (closed for cleaning, 11:30am-12:30pm)
    • F, 8-11:30am AND 12:30-3pm (closed for cleaning, 11:30am-12:30pm)
  • As of May 10, our hours are they will change to:
    • M-Th, 7:30am-11:30am AND 12:30-5:30pm (closed for cleaning, 11:30am-12:30pm)
    • F, 8am-12pm
  • As of May 24, our hours are:
    • M-Th, 7:30am-5:30pm
    • F, 8am-12pm
  • Our maximum capacity has increased to forty (40), although Reservations are encouraged still recommended. To that end, we have loosened up the online booking system:
    • Users can now book seats on demand, the day of a desired booking, up until the end of a quarter-hour slot, using our booking system.
    • Users no longer have to verify their email address to make a booking; and the library does not need to approve a booking in advance.
    • Users can now self-check-in up to five minutes before their official booking starts, using the QR codes at their appointed seat; library staff can also check them in at the desk.
    • If users don't show up within 30 minutes of their booking start time, their booking will be cancelled and the slot will open back up to others.
    • And there is still two-hour padding (before and after) each booking so we have ample time to clean between bookings.
    • For more information about using the online booking system, please see these instructions.
  • Appointments are no longer needed for individual IDs; please feel free to stop by during our above operating hours to get your card.
  • Our stacks are back open for browsing again!  Of course, if you still prefer curbside service, we are happy to continue to pull books for you.  Please see this video for more details about requesting books.

Haiku Contest Results

We were so pleased by the (virtual) turnout for BCC Library's National Library Week Haiku Contest.  Many thanks to all our participants, whose wonderful poems made it very hard for our judges to decide!

Without further ado, however, here are our winning haiku:

First Place: Quinn Bradin

Alone in silence
We expand our minds and grow
Sculpting who we are

Second Place: Jaritza Cruz Montalban

these books hold new worlds
snippets of another life
beloved, pure words

Third Place: Zoe Stevens

Libraries are home
Safe and cozy with a book
My story begins

Congratulations to all our poets, who will be celebrated in Dolphin Tales 2021 later this year!

Summer Reading Challenge

BCC Library will be announcing its first summer reading challenge, starting May 1, open to all faculty/students/staff!  Anyone who fills a row, column, or diagonal on the BINGO scorecard and returns the scorecard to the library by August 31, 2021, will receive a fun reward.  For those awesome readers who fill a card entirely, they will be entered into a special draw to win some mystery larger prizes.  So get reading and get rewarded!

See You Soon!

We look forward to your return to the library over the summer and in the fall!  As you finish up with your spring semester, please don't hesitate to get in touch when you need help!
